A robust, thick steel cage with perfectly sized gaps allows small birds to access the feeder inside while preventing squirrels and larger birds like pigeons and crows from reaching the food. This design ensures that only small birds can feed from the feeder, helping you save significantly on bird food. The cage is expertly constructed to resist any damage squirrels might try to inflict, and a secure clip keeps the lid firmly attached too the outer cage, preventing even the most intelligent squirrels from lifting it to access the food.

A standout feature of this squirrel proof feeder is that the seed feeder inside is made entirely of metal. This is crucial, especially during the spring months when young squirrels, being smaller than adults, might occasionally squeeze through the cage. If this happens, the metal feeder inside remains intact and undamaged. This improvement addresses a weakness in some of our previous caged squirrel proof feeders, which were susceptible to damage under similar circumstances.

Another excellent feature of this feeder is its ease of disassembly for deep cleaning. By simply unscrewing a knob underneath, you can detach the feeder from its base. Then, with a simple 90-degree twist of the metal perches, they are also removed from the feeder. This then allows you to take the feeder out of the cage, where it can be fully dismantled for a thorough clean, ensuring optimal hygiene and maintenance.
